One of my earlier stories, The Dog in the Mist, was written for LT3’s The Bestiary collection. I wrote this story during a very rainy summer when I wasn’t working anywhere near as much as I wanted to be, and I think the story reflects that. It’s set on Dartmoor, which can be a very bleak landscape, and the plot is largely based on local legends. The Bestiary is going out of print at the end of this month, so if you want to read The Dog in the Mist, or any of the other stories, now is quite possibly your last chance.
I also copy edited several stories for The Bestiary, and read others just because. That was a while ago now, but I would still recommend Fire and Lightning, The Kraken Lord and the Eater of the Sun, and Fireborn, all of which were great (and you know I must have really liked them if I can still remember them four years later). Those are only my favourites out of the ones I know. I’m sure there are plenty of other gems that I just haven’t read. As the title of the collection suggests, the stories all revolve around mythological creatures of some kind.
The stories are all at 40% off in an end-of-life sale, so now is a great chance to pick up some wonderful stories at a low price before they’re gone forever.
